West Ham United reportedly could now face competition from Chelsea for Real Betis defender Luiz Felipe.
According to Spanish publication Estadio Deportivo, Chelsea have now entered the race to sign West Ham target Luiz Felipe in the summer transfer window.

However, if Hammers manager David Moyes really wants to sign the Italy international, he will be wishing that he had made a concrete move for him sooner.
That’s because Chelsea are now in the race for the Real Betis centre-back…
Chelsea could now beat West Ham to key David Moyes transfer target Luiz Felipe
According to Estadio Deportivo, new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino could try to bring the Italian to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Let’s be honest here, losing out in the race for Felipe’s signature wouldn’t be the end of the world would it.
In 23 La Liga outings for Betis last season, Felipe averaged 1.5 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 4.3 clearances and 1.3 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).
He is a very decent defender and is somewhat of a warrior, with his die-hard passion and tenacious tackling.
However, Felipe is far from perfect and can be extremely rash when making challenges. His injury record makes for less than impressive reading as well.

Luiz Felipe has missed 49 games through injury since 2018 (Transfermarkt).
If Chelsea beat West Ham to the signing of Luiz Felipe, I don’t think it would be something to be angry about at all.
There are many central defenders better than the Real Betis man available out there this summer – the likes of Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Jonathan Tah spring to mind.
Moyes should focus his attention elsewhere as far as I’m concerned.
