Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel delivers double transfer hammer blow to West Ham and it is surely now time to move on

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has delivered a double transfer hammer blow to West Ham and it is surely now time to move on.

West Ham’s interest in a number of Chelsea players has been well documented this summer.

Indeed Chelsea’s interest in one particular West Ham star has been widely reported for several years too.

Having done business with Chelsea to sign Kurt Zouma last summer, the Hammers are said to be seriously interested in opening up the lines of communication between east and west London again to bring in midfield dynamo Conor Gallagher.

West Ham had been really pushing to try and sign Blues striker Armando Broja all summer but switched attentions to the more proven and polished Italy international forward Gianluca Scamacca instead.

Another Chelsea player has also been linked with a move to the London Stadium in the shape of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg – who is well connected at West Ham – claimed this week that David Moyes had made a new push for Chelsea midfield ace Gallagher.

And it has been suggested in other reports that the 22-year-old may look to get game time elsewhere to keep his place in the England squad for the World Cup.

West Ham are also allegedly keen to sign Chelsea outcast Hudson-Odoi this summer. That’s according to a new report from 90min who claim that the Hammers could face competition from the likes of Newcastle and Everton for the 21-year-old’s signature.

But Chelsea boss Tuchel has delivered a double transfer hammer blow to West Ham and it is surely now time to move on.

Speaking on transfer interest in Gallagher and Hudson-Odoi from the likes of West Ham and others, Tuchel hammered what looks like the final nail in any lingering Hammers hopes.

“We are happy with Conor Gallagher,” Tuchel stated yesterday, as reported by transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano.

“He keeps on fighting – I think he has everything to become a very important player at Chelsea.

“Hudson-Odoi, same. He has a huge potential – at the moment, he is our player and he needs to fight, fight, fight.”

Tuchel clearly does not want either player to leave, particularly Gallagher.

And it is easy to see why given he was outstanding last season in the Premier League and with England.

Chelsea are not under any pressure to sell and, importantly, both players count towards the homegrown quota.

If Moyes genuinely is still hanging on in the hope of getting Gallagher or Hudson-Odoi then it is time to move on and find alternatives that are available… and sharpish.
