West Ham should consider making a move for Everton midfielder Tom Davies in January with Carlo Ancelotti allegedly ready to move him on.
Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti is prepared to sell the 22-year-old for around £12 million according to the Daily Mail.
And Hammers chief David Moyes could secure himself a real coup by bringing Tom Davies to the London Stadium from Goodison Park.
West Ham have a strong central midfield partnership in the form of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek.
The prospect of either or both of those players suffering a long-term injury is a seriously concerning one, however.
The only orthodox central midfielder the Hammers have in reserve is Mark Noble. And as good as the 33-year-old has been for the east London outfit, it is clear to see that he is now well past his best.
If West Ham are to maintain their impressive start to the 2020/21 campaign, Moyes must be backed in the January transfer window.
The Scot will be keen to sign a left-back and a centre-forward. Our deficiencies in central midfield must not be overlooked, however.
Everton ace Tom Davies would be the ideal signing for us in January. And £12 million seems like a very reasonable fee for such a talented young footballer.
The 22-year-old Toffees ace burst onto the scene in 2017 when he scored during his side’s 4-0 win over Pep Guardiola’s magnificent Manchester City team.
Carlo Ancelotti given up on midfielder?
Tom Davies is technically brilliant and although he has struggled for consistency over the past 12 months or so, perhaps a fresh start and a new challenge with West Ham would enable him to return to his best.
The midfielder has struggled for game-time under Carlo Ancelotti.
His quality is undeniable, however. Let’s not forget how young he still is. At 22, the Everton ace can still develop further into a truly top class player.
Signing Davies would enable Moyes to play with three central midfielders and the Everton ace’s attributes would compliment those of Rice and Soucek perfectly.
For just £12 million, West Ham can’t afford to miss out on Tom Davies. Let’s hope the Hammers owners are prepared to back Moysie in the transfer market!
