Callum Wilson has suggested that West Ham should sign Ivan Toney from Brentford in the summer transfer window.
The Newcastle hitman has actually been linked with the Hammers plenty of times in the past but this time, it is someone else who is being touted for a move to the London Stadium.
Ivan Toney has been in fine form for Brentford so far this season.
The 26-year-old has bagged 12 goals and four assists in 30 Premier League games so far (Transfermarkt).
And David Moyes allegedly wants to bring Toney to West Ham in the summer transfer window (90 Min).
Michail Antonio is currently the only centre-forward option that Moyes has at his disposal. And that clearly has to change in the summer…
Callum Wilson urges West Ham to sign Ivan Toney
The Brentford hitman could be available for around £35 million this summer according to a report from The Sun.
Michail Antonio has suggested in the past that Toney should leave Brentford to join a bigger club.
And Newcastle hitman Wilson responded when speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast:
“He’s trying to market him (Toney) you know. I’m trying to keep him for you. Maybe they should take him at West Ham and take Michail’s spot because he can’t score anyway.”
Whilst Wilson was clearly having a bit of fun, we think that Toney would be a superb option for West Ham.
He dominated us twice in the Premier League this season.
The 26-year-old is strong in the air, quick along the ground and is a very good finisher. Toney’s attitude has been questionable at times but if anyone can sort him out, David Moyes can.
£35 million for Toney seems like great value for the Hammers.
And let’s hope Callum Wilson is right and West Ham do end up signing Ivan Toney from Brentford this summer.
