West Ham United have to sign a top-class striker before deadline day, it really is as simple as that.
Graham Potter is down to the bare bones now, and he desperately needs reinforcements if he’s to guide West Ham to a successful second half of the season.
The Hammers have been linked with numerous exciting transfers in the January window.
However, clubs and certain agents are trying to send some utter dross our way as well.
Potter has a decent squad at his disposal at the London Stadium, when everybody is fit of course.

The Hammers are missing so many players right now, especially in the centre-forward department.
And the owners have to back Potter to the hilt in order to address that particular problem before the January window slams shut.
Non-existent West Ham striker bid claim
So it seems like the Hammers haven’t actually made a formal approach for one striker in particular just yet.
But that’s great news in my opinion, because the striker in question is the injury prone Andre Silva.
According to a report from top German publication BILD, West Ham are yet to submit a formal offer for the Portugal international.
Now, that means one thing as far as I’m concerned.
And that is that West Ham are going in for either Evan Ferguson or Brian Brobbey.
There’s absolutely no way that the Hammers wouldn’t have made a formal offer for Silva yet, if Potter wanted him at the London Stadium.
He’s available on a short-term loan deal after all.

Andre Silva would be a really poor addition for West Ham in the January transfer window.
It’s a deal that would reek of a total lack of ambition, and that would filter down to the Hammers fans, serving only to increase the apathy felt by many of us about our club right now.
That said, there are still genuine reasons to be excited about West Ham. With Potter at the helm, I feel like the future is very bright indeed.
And signing a top-class striker before deadline day would give a major lift to everyone involved with the Hammers.
That man is clearly not Andre Silva.
