Another alternative to Jesse Lingard has entered the transfer equation at West Ham United according to new reports from France.

David Moyes has been patiently waiting to see if Lingard returning to West Ham is a possibility following his sensational loan spell last season.

With Manchester United adding the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho to a side already packed full of quality options in Lingard’s position, Moyes may be hoping he can convince the 28-year-old to come back to the London Stadium.

Moyes needs reinforcements with deadline day looming and may not be able to wait for late Lingard decision

But with Tuesday’s transfer deadline looming large and a jam-packed season with European football ahead, West Ham cannot afford to take any chances.

West Ham have been linked with Nikola Vlasic as a potential alternative to Lingard.

And now a new option has been named in the shape of attacking midfielder and wide man Jeremie Boga.

New Lingard alternative enters the equation as reports in France link Hammers with African star Boga

According to Foot Mercato and Get French Football News, West Ham – along with today’s opponents Crystal Palace and Moyes’s old club Everton – have made enquiries about signing the Sassuolo star before the deadline.

“The 24-year-old had also been the subject of interest from Italian clubs this summer, among which Napoli and Atalanta, with Boga’s contract running until the end of the upcoming season,” Foot Mercato and Get French Football News report.

“It now appears that a move to England could be on the cards in the final week of the window for the forward, who has been with the Neroverdi since 2018 and notably scored 11 goals in the 2019/20 season.”

Moyes leaning towards attacking midfielder who can fill in up front after striker struggles?

Moyes has admitted he is struggling to sign a striker to compete with Michail Antonio at West Ham.

And the suggestion is that West Ham could instead bring in an attacking midfield player who – like Lingard – can also operate as a second striker if needed.

Boga, a former France youth international, fits that description and also the profile of player Moyes likes – athletic, powerful, fast and a good age.

Whether West Ham take their interest in the Ivory Coast international any further remains to be seen.

But with three days left of the window, West Ham fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
