Nottingham Forest are leading West Ham United in the race to sign Palmeiras youngster Danilo in the January transfer window.

That’s according to a report from The Telegraph who claim that Nottingham Forest are eyeing up an £18 million move to sign the 21-year-old central midfielder.

West Ham boss David Moyes has actually been linked with bringing Danilo to the London Stadium since last January.

Central midfield is definitely an area where Moyes needs to improve at West Ham, and Danilo would be a superb addition to the Scot’s ranks.

It seems as though Forest have stolen a march on the Hammers in the race for the young Brazilian’s signature though…

The Telegraph reckon that Forest are in pole position to sign the 21-year-old Palmeiras ace for £18 million this winter.

Danilo is a defensive midfielder by trade but he can also operate as a box-to-box player or even as an attacking mifdfielder.

The Brazilian is a tenacious tackler, has plenty of energy and has impressive physical attributes.

His playing style is quintessentially South American in the sense that he is dogged and always takes to the field with a never-say-die attitude.

Described by South American football expert Tim Vickery as a sensation, Danilo has everything needed to go on and succeed at the very highest level of the game.

I would have absolutely loved to see the Palmeiras youngster rock up at the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

Unfortunately for West Ham though, it seems as though Nottingham Forest are leading the race to sign Danilo this winter.

And if they win the race for his signature, it will very much be their gain and our loss.
