A new report from France has dropped the biggest hint yet that £34m man Nayef Aguerd is on his way to West Ham imminently.
West Ham have been heavily linked with Rennes and Morocco star Aguerd.
The Evening Standard and The Daily Mail suggested last week that Aguerd’s move to West Ham was imminent.
According to West Ham insiders speaking to Claret and Hugh, the Hammers had seen off competition from Sevilla to sign the 26-year-old left-footed centre-back.

At the weekend Le Parisien – as also reported by Get French Football News – claimed negotiations between West Ham and Ligue 1 outfit Rennes were proceeding positively.
So there were concerns this week when a report from Ouest France – as also reported by GFFN – claimed West Ham’s attempts to sign Aguerd were being held up by disagreements over bonuses.
There was a distinct feeling of de ja vu for West Ham fans who are well used to seeing transfer deals involving their club become protracted and often doomed to failure.
The frustration from supporters over the club’s dealings is only heightened watching rival clubs such as Aston Villa get deals done quickly and efficiently for the players they want to sign.
Thankfully, though, it appears to merely be a matter of time until Aguerd becomes a Hammer.
A new report from L’Équipe and GFFN today drops the biggest hint yet that £30m man Aguerd is on his way to West Ham imminently.
Because L’Équipe and GFFN report that Rennes are ‘putting particular focus on signing a new central defender to replace Aguerd as he leaves for Premier League side West Ham in a €40m (£34m) deal’.
“Among the candidates to replace the 26-year-old Moroccan are his international teammate Romain Saïss, a free agent after leaving Wolves at the end of the season, as well as Strasbourg’s Ghana international Alexander Djiku,” L’Équipe and GFFN claim.
It will mark a very positive start to the summer for West Ham and David Moyes if they can get the Aguerd deal done and dusted right at the start of the window.
Aguerd’s talent is obvious for anyone that has seen him play or takes a look at his YouTube highlights reel.
His stats are seriously impressive too. According to Opta data, Aguerd has made the most forward passes of any outfield player in the top five European leagues since the start of the 2020-21 season!
And another astonishing stat about Aguerd’s defending was revealed this week.
