Yuri Alberto is apparently open to joining West Ham United from Corinthians this summer.

According to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, West Ham director of football Tim Steidten is out in Brazil to seal a deal for Yuri Alberto in the summer transfer window.

Alberto, 22, has been a target for the East London outfit since June 2022, so it’s probably unfair to suggest that this move is because of Steidten rather than Hammers manager David Moyes.

The Scot has been desperately trying to sign a long-term replacement for Michail Antonio over the past couple of years. He tried going down a different route with Gianluca Scamacca but that obviously didn’t work out.

Now Moyes is clearly returning to his tried and trusted philosophy, with a hard-working unit of a striker needed. Alberto may well be the man for the job, and it seems as though he’s keen on a move to the London Stadium as well…

Big boost for David Moyes as Dharmesh Sheth claims striker wants to join West Ham

The Sky Sports reporter took to his official Twitter account last night to provide an update on the Hammers’ chase of the Brazil international:

Now, if Moyes and Steidten are so keen to bring Alberto to East London, he must have something about him that makes him perfect for the Scot’s system.

He is hardly prolific, with just 59 goals in 189 career games to his name (Transfermarkt). However, his game is about much more than just goals and a centre-forward in Moyes’s system doesn’t need to score 20 goals a season.

He has been described as a pacy striker who is good with either foot by ESDF Analysis.

Yuri Alberto is a very hard worker as well and is always willing to make tireless runs into the channels. It’s little wonder why Moyes might be interested in bringing him to the London Stadium!

The update from Dharmesh Sheth last night is really good news for West Ham. We finally could have a replacement for Antonio on the way to the club very soon indeed.
