West Ham United may still have a sliver of hope regarding a potential summer deal for Bayern Munich youngster Noel Aseko.
Because, according to reports out of Germany and contrary to what was previously claimed, the Hannover loanee may well be sold for the right price after all.
Last month, sporting director Christoph Freund indicated that Aseko would be staying at Bayern Munich as a youthful reserve in Vincent Kompany’s star-studded squad.
What CHANGES would you make vs Everton on Saturday?
Adama in? Wilson for Pablo, perhaps?
Leon Goretzka is expected to leave the Bundesliga champions, thus seemingly opening up the door for the Germany Under-21 international.
But following new claims from Sky Germany, West Ham United should not be giving up hope just yet.
West Ham United have a chance to sign Bayern Munich’s Noel Aseko
Sky say that Aseko’s future at Bayern remains ‘uncertain’, despite the fact he is clearly extremely highly-regarded behind the scenes at the Allianz Arena. While Transfermarkt mentioned West Ham as a potential destination, Roma, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Brighton, are now thrown into the ring.

It is believed that Bayern would ‘consider’ a sale in the region of £10 million.
Of course, as exciting a prospect as Noel Aseko is, competition for places at Bayern Munich is extremely high. Even if Goretzka goes, Aseko would have to battle against Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Konrad Laimer, plus rising star Tom Bischof.
In recent seasons, Bayern have allowed the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Mathys Tel, Malik Tilman, Noussair Mazraoui, Chris Richards and Joshua Zirkzee to go in search of regular first-team football. The chances are, they will not force Aseko to stay if he feels he needs to follow in their footsteps in order to develop.
The jury is OUT on Sountougou Magassa! What have you made of him so far?
What does he need to improve to nail down a starting spot?
Aseko, who models his game on France icon N’Golo Kante, has made an almighty splash during his Hannover loan spell. Renowned for his tough tackling approach, Aseko has also recorded three goals and six assists in Germany’s second-tier.
Reports of West Ham’s interest emerged as Freddie Potts slipped down Nuno Espirito Santo’s pecking order.
He and Soungoutou Magassa have found starts hard to come by in the Premier League of late, meaning both may be in danger of being leapfrogged by a new midfield signing.
