West Ham United have upstaged every single Premier League club in the summer transfer window so far, Aston Villa included.
The summer transfer window has been a transformational one for West Ham so far, with eight new players having been brought in by Julen Lopetegui.
Six players have left the London Stadium, and that kind of turnover needed to happen, with numerous big upgrades made already by the Hammers head coach.
The 57-year-old has already made it very clear that he hasn’t been happy with the performances of his players during pre-season.
But in fairness to them, it will take time for all the new signings to gel together, and to understand each other’s games.
The thing is, I don’t think Lopetegui, Tim Steidten and David Sullivan are anywhere near finished when it comes to their player recruitment this summer.
I can see at least two more players coming into the club, especially if three or four more are moved on.
However, a deal for one of Lopetegui’s chief targets may well now be difficult to get over the line it seems.
Aston Villa could spoil 10/10 West Ham summer transfer window
As good as this summer has been already for the Hammers, it has the potential to get even better.
However, Villa could prevent Lopetegui from securing what would be the perfect summer window.

Baris Alper Yilmaz is firmly on the West Ham radar this summer, and we have apparently already held a meeting with the 20-capped Turkey international’s agent.
However, Lopetegui certainly won’t have things all his own way, if he is to bring the £30 million rated forward to the London Stadium.
According to a report from Turkish publication ABC Gazetesi, Aston Villa have sent ‘officials’ out to Turkey to see the 24-year-old winger in action for Galatasaray.
It is claimed that Villa scouts are evaluating Yilmaz’s potential, ahead of a potential move to sign the 24-year-old this summer.
Now, West Ham’s summer window has been a 9/10 so far, but the signing of the Turkey international would elevate it to a 10/10.
So Villa’s apparent interest in signing the Euro 2024 star will obviously be a problem for the Hammers.
Described as ‘incredible’ by beIN SPORTS, the Galatasaray ace has everything needed to succeed at the very highest level in the Premier League.
Yilmaz is a right-footed right winger – a rare commodity in this day and age. However, he can play out wide on the left as well, and through the middle as a striker if need be.
The 24-year-old possesses really impressive pace, incredible technical ability and always plays with real drive and determination.
Yilmaz really stood out for Turkey out in Germany at Euro 2024, and he is a hot commodity this summer.
He bagged seven goals and 12 assists in 55 games for Galatasaray last season, and played a key role in their historical title win.
I would love Baris Alper Yilmaz at West Ham, but Aston Villa throwing their hat in the ring in the race to sign him will undoubtedly be a big blow to our hopes of bringing him to East London.
