As West Ham United weigh up a move to bring England Under-19 international Jaden Dixon to the London Stadium, not every Arsenal fan agrees that sending the defender out on loan is the right idea.

Concerns from sections of the Gunners support is not, though, because they fear the Havering-born teenager is not ready for such an opportunity.

Quite the opposite.

Which Premier League youngster would you most like to see West Ham sign on loan? ⚒️👇

There are some in North London who feel that, after William Saliba joined Ben White and Jurrien Timber on the treatment table, Jaden Dixon may be needed at Arsenal. During pre-season, at the very least.

West Ham are reportedly keen on taking Dixon down the road on a temporary basis. According to The Standard’s Sam Tabuteau, the versatile centre-back has been identified as a low-cost, short-term solution to Nuno Espirito Santo’s defensive concerns.

While many of an Arsenal persuasion believe that Dixon could be the man to help fix those, Nuno is not the only coach with defensive concerns as injuries rack up at the Emirates.

West Ham’s Jaden Dixon interest draws response from Arsenal fans

“Could be an interesting move for Dixon if it happens,” Arsenal youth specialist Jeorge Bird writes on X. “If he plays regularly in the Championship, it may be better than the occasional first-team appearance for Arsenal, but will have to see what happens.”

“This is something I could get behind,” one Gunners supporter agrees. “Jaden Dixon has potential so any loan would be useful, especially Championship level. A loan would do him good if this is true. He’s ready.”

“If he’s at West Ham, he’ll be getting valuable first-team playing time. Would be insanely good for his development.”

“Fantastic loan.”

“This would be great for him and Arsenal.”

While West Ham faced Southend in their first official pre-season friendly of 2026/27 at Roots Hall, the Gunners may be without a host of defensive options when they raise the curtain against Girona on August 1st.

“[Dixon] is probably our best youth defender on current ability,” a more pessimistic Arsenal supporter says in response to those West Ham links. “For right centre-back/right-back, we currently have Saliba out, White and Timber both having injury issues, and [Cristhian] Mosquera.

“Personally, I would like to see him in pre-season first. I like the look of him, and there’s an opportunity to solve a problem at right-back.”

Mikel Arteta handed Dixon his Gunners debut in the FA Cup

Dixon has already featured once in the Arsenal first-team, despite only joining from Stoke City in a £3.2 million January deal. He stepped off the bench in March’s 2-1 FA Cup victory over Mansfield Town, impressing with his maturity and composure.

“He’s been doing really well,” Arteta said at the time. “He’s been training with us lately, and with the absences that we had in the backline, he was an option.”

Now that Arsenal have further ‘absences’ to contend with, it will be interesting to hear how the Gunners respond to West Ham’s advances.

In the meantime, club insider ExWhuEmployee claims that West Ham are in talks with Cardiff for Dylan Lawlor. The Welsh international was hailed by Danny Gabbidon and Craig Bellamy after scoring one of the finest solo goals in the EFL last season.

Leicester City’s Ben Nelson is reportedly a £12 million target, too.
