The Hammers want to sign the Gunners left-back in the summer, according to a report from the Athletic’s David Ornstein.
The move obviously failed to materialise, however.
West Ham boss David Moyes currently has real problems on the left side of defence.
The Hammers were flying earleir this season after Moyes switched to three central defenders and a wing-back system.
Arthur Masuaku flourished in the left wing-back role whilst Aaron Cresswell impressed as a left sided centre-back.
We have looked shaky since switching to a back four with Cresswell at left-back after Masuaku was forced to undergo knee surgery, however.

And with this in mind, David Moyes should look to bring Arsenal star Sead Kolasinac to the London Stadium next month.
Many Gunners fans have been disappointed with the Bosnia international’s form over the past 12 months. His quality is undeniable, however.
Criticism unfair?
The 27-year-old was named in the Bundesliga team of the season before he moved to the Emirates in the summer of 2017 (Bundesliga official website).

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is allegedly now willing to let Sead Kolasinac leave the north London club, however (Express).
The 35-capped Bosnia international could be available for just €6 million (£5.4 million) according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Arsenal ace can operate at left-back or left wing-back. He is far from a great defender but he is excellent going forward – much like Masuaku.
The Gunners star would provide stringent competition and competent cover for Arthur.
And for just £5.4 million, signing Sead Kolasinac in January seems like an absolute no brainer for West Ham.
