Alpha Toure has confirmed that he is ‘interested’ in a move to the Championship amid claims that West Ham United are the frontrunners for the £6 million FC Metz midfielder.

Back in February, Toure admitted it would be ‘a dream’ to cross the border from France into England.

At the time, he was talking specifically about the Premier League. Fortunately, West Ham United’s relegation does not appear to have put off the Senegal youth international.

Speaking to 13 TV, Toure now confirms that he would also be more than willing to join a club in the second-tier of English football.

Alpha Toure has reportedly decided to join West Ham United

“I try to focus strictly on football,” he says. “Although it’s true that rumours exist and there were discussions, I was concentrated on FC Metz.

“However, I am interested in championships like the Premier League or the Championship because of the intensity of the races there.”

This comes amid claims from Africa Foot that Toure has ‘given his word’ to West Ham ahead of a potential £6 million move to the London Stadium. The 20-year-old has reportedly rejected approaches from Saudi Arabia in favour of the Hammers.

Should everything go to plan, Alpha Toure would become West Ham’s second first-team signing of the summer. Keiber Lamadrid joined the Hammers on a permanent basis from Deportivo La Guaira last month.
