West Ham could be closing in on a deal to sign Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo after he was left out of a third consecutive pre-season friendly for the Serie A side.
That’s according to a report from Alfredo Pedulla who claims that the Hammers are increasing the pressure on Sassuolo to sell Scamacca after the 23-year-old was omitted from the squad for their friendly clash with Sudtirol.

It is alleged that West Ham have a €40 million (£35 million) plus bonuses offer on the table for the Sassuolo striker (Alfredo Pedulla).
Michail Antonio has been the only striker at the London Stadium since Sebastien Haller was sold to Ajax back in January 2021.
That clearly isn’t good enough for a club with supposed aspirations of challenging for honours on all fronts.

We think that the Italy international would be a sensational addition for the Hammers.
The 23-year-old is an absolute unit. He stands at 6ft 5in tall but don’t let that fool you, he’s so much more than a bog-standard target man.
Sempre Inter recently described the towering striker as an ‘unbelievable’ player.
He would certainly provide stiff competition for Michail Antonio at the London Stadium.
Scamacca possesses exceptional technique and has one of the most ferocious shots in the game at his disposal.
The 23-year-old bagged 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo this season (Transfermarkt). He really is a very good all-round striker.
The Italian should suit our playing style perfectly.
