Alex Crook has suggested Danny Ings is being signed with a view to West Ham hiring a specific new boss to replace David Moyes.
Sky Sports have claimed West Ham have completed a £15 million deal to sign striker Ings from Aston Villa.
Hammers News carried news of the transfer earlier this morning after reports that Ings was in ‘advanced’ talks with West Ham.
They say desperate times call for desperate measures. And they don’t come more desperate than West Ham and Moyes right now.
The Hammers face Everton in a must-win six-pointer down on Saturday with both clubs in the relegation zone.

And West Ham hope to have Ings available for a game which – if reports are to be believed – could be Moyes’ last if the Hammers fail to win.
Many fans feel like this is a signing typical of the West Ham of old. A player over 30, with a questionable injury record.
It is clearly a panic signing that little planning has gone into. But there could be more to the transfer than meets the eye according to a talkSPORT reporter.
Alex Crook suggests Ings is being signed with a view to West Ham hiring specific new boss to replace Moyes.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Thursday morning, Crook suggested that the Ings deal may well suggest West Ham linked Sean Dyche is on his way in to replace Moyes.
“It’s being reported in some quarters that he has now signed on the dotted line with West Ham…” Crook said on talkSPORT.
“West Ham certainly confident of getting this deal for Danny Ings done. I’m told the fee will be around about £10m rising to a possible £15m with add-ons.

“This always seems to be the way with Danny Ings, I remember his move to Southampton (and then Villa) almost happened out of the blue…
“West Ham’s interest only really surfaced last night, they’ve moved quickly to try and get this deal done – they want Danny Ings signed and in the squad for that huge game against Everton at the weekend…
“Yes and no (the Ings signing is a shot in the arm for Moyes) because the grapevine suggests that if David Moyes does lose this game at the weekend and is therefore relieved of his duties, that Sean Dyche could be the man to come in until the end of the season.
“And I think he’s got a relationship with Danny Ings hasn’t he from his time at Burnley so maybe you can put two and two together and make four there as well.”
