Tottenham Hotspur allegedly could now challenge West Ham United for the signing of Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from La Nazione who claim that Tottenham are ‘contending’ for the 24-year-old centre-back’s signature this summer.

West Ham manager David Moyes is on the hunt for another centre-back after new signing Nayef Aguerd suffered a serious ankle injury during a pre-season clash with Rangers two weeks ago.

It was reported not long ago that the Hammers were ‘expected’ to sign Milenkovic this summer. Tottenham chasing the Serbia centre-back will undoubtedly throw a spanner in the works for Moyes though…

Spurs boss Antonio Conte is clearly keen to strengthen his central defensive ranks in the summer transfer window.

Tottenham eyeing summer move for Nikola Milenkovic

La Nazione reckon that Spurs are contending for the 24-year-old’s signature this summer.

And if Tottenham beat West Ham to his signature this summer it would be a massive blow for David Moyes.

The Serb was magnificent for La Viola last season.

Described as an ‘extraordinary defender’ by x-sport news, Milenkovic is a truly elite centre-back and he still has so many years left ahead of him before he even reaches his prime.

In 34 Serie A appearances for Fiorentina last term, the 24-year-old averaged 1.6 tackles, 1.1 interceptions and 2.7 clearances per match. He also won an average of 2.9 aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

Milenkovic is very comfortable with the ball at his feet as well. During his 34 league outings last season, he made 60.3 passes on average per game and recorded an incredibly impressive completion rate of 90.4% (Who Scored).

The Serbian could be available for around £13 million according to Italian website Calciomercato.it.

What an unbelievable bargain that would be for either West Ham or Tottenham.

Unfortunately for us though, Tottenham may well be better placed to sign Nikola Milenkovic this summer, considering the fact that they have Champions League football on offer in north London.
