West Ham United are allegedly still firmly in the race to sign talented Lille midfielder Amadou Onana this summer.

That’s according to Daily Express football journalist Ryan Taylor who told Give Me Sport that the Hammers’ hopes of signing the 20-year-old ace are still ‘very much alive’.

West Ham manager David Moyes has been trying to bring Onana to the London Stadium for quite some time now (Sky Sports).

And the East London outfit allegedly submitted a £32.3 million bid for the Belgium international a couple of weeks ago – one that has neither been accepted nor rejected.

David Moyes has already signed Flynn Downes from Swansea City, but he still needs to bolster his central midfield ranks even further still with Mark Noble having retired and Alex Kral’s loan spell now over.

And it seems as though Moyes is desperate to get one signing in particular over the line…

West Ham still very keen to get Amadou Onana deal done

The Hammers have been tracking the Belgian all summer long and Moyes is still very keen indeed to bring the powerful midfielder to the London Stadium.

Ryan Taylor told Give Me Sport that West Ham are still 100% in the race to sign the Lille star:

“100%. I think that bid’s still on the table but, with some of these stories, you think it doesn’t seem to add up. We get a bit lost because they have not heard of any response to that offer. But it’s a really substantial bid, so I do think that deal is still very much alive. As far as I’m aware, that bid hasn’t been accepted or rejected at the moment.

We believe that this one would be a huge deal to get over the line for the Hammers.

We would absolutely love to see Onana at the London Stadium.

The Belgium international would be sensational for the Hammers.

He seems to have absolutely everything needed to succeed in the English game what with its intense nature and ferocious speed and tempo.

The 6ft 5in central midfielder is an absolute giant.

Amadou Onana is powerful, energetic and has everything that West Ham boss Moyes will be looking for in the middle of the park.

The Belgium international is equally as strong with both feet, and that’s somewhat of a rarity in the modern game.

In 32 Ligue 1 outings for Lille last season, Onana averaged 1.5 tackles and one interception per game. He made 20 passes on average per match and recorded a completion rate of 84% (Who Scored).

The 20-year-old is an absolute powerhouse of a player and would be an unreal addition to Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

Onana is a really special talent. He has been described by Sport Magazine as a ‘sensational’ young player. Meanwhile, he’s been labelled as an ‘incredible’ player by Total Football Analysis.

West Ham signing Amadou Onana would be a major statement this summer. And according to the latest reports, it seems as though Moyes is very much trying to make that happen.
