‘Their cup final’ Paul Merson makes 3-goal West Ham vs Arsenal prediction

Paul Merson has made his prediction for the West Ham United vs Arsenal Premier League clash on Sunday.

West Ham play host to Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend, and Paul Merson has made a three-goal prediction for the game.

The Hammers are in the midst of a really poor run of form right now, having not won a game since we played Arsenal at the Emirates in December, and David Moyes will be desperate for all three points on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Gunners are absolutely flying, winning their last three Premier League games and Mikel Arteta will know full well that a convincing win is required at the London Stadium, if his side are to remain in the title race.

West Ham have beaten Arsenal twice already this season, so the players definitely shouldn’t fear the north Londoners. However, what way does Merson see this one going?

Paul Merson makes West Ham vs Arsenal prediction

Both clubs desperately need a win at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

And Merson suggested that it will be a tight game in East London, when making his weekly predictions for Sportskeeda:

“Arsenal can’t drop any points between now and the end of the season and are coming on the back of a statement 3-1 win against Liverpool. I think they’ll win this one but this is West Ham’s cup final – they’ll be looking forward to facing their London rivals. David Moyes’ side haven’t won a Premier League game since beating Arsenal in the reverse fixture nearly a month and a half ago, which shows that they are on a terrible run of form. This is where Arsenal are at the moment – they are a very good team, but they need to show their killer instinct and see off games if they are to win their first league title in over 20 years.”

Prediction: West Ham 1-2 Arsenal

I agree with Merson here in the sense that Sunday’s game will undoubtedly be a really tight one.

I’m really not sure which way this one will go, but I reckon if we are to win the match, we will need Lucas Paqueta to be passed fit.

West Ham are definitely capable of turning over Arsenal – we’ve done it twice this season already. However, the Gunners are bang in form right now, and the Paul Merson prediction is one that I would probably go along with.
