West Ham United will have the honour of officially opening Brentford’s new stadium.
That’s after it was announced this evening that West Ham will travel to Premier League new boys Brentford for a pre-season friendly in just over two weeks.
The Hammers got their pre-season preparations underway with a 2-2 draw at Dundee at the weekend.

Hammers gearing up for jam-packed season
David Moyes’s West Ham side are preparing for a jam-packed season with Europa League football.
Games will be coming thick and fast for the Hammers next term. So West Ham’s players need to be sharp and pre-season will be key.
Next up is a double-header on the same day at Leyton Orient and Northampton on Tuesday. West Ham’s squad will be split in two with Moyes leading a side at Orient while some of his staff take a team to Northampton.

Celtic await before West Ham have honour of officially opening new London stadium
West Ham then face Reading next week before a trip to Celtic a few days later.
And the Hammers round off July with a newly arranged friendly against the latest London team to join the elite, Brentford.
The two clubs played each other last pre-season. Moyes and Bees boss Thomas Frank are good friends.
West Ham and Brentford have also done transfer business together in recent times with Said Benrahma joining in a big money deal while Winston Reid helped Frank’s side to promotion on loan last season.

All that remains is for West Ham to confirm home pre-season friendly at London Stadium
The match will be something of a special occasion too as West Ham will officially open the hosts’s impressive new Brentford Community Stadium after spending most of their debut campaign in the 17,250-capacity stadium without supporters present.
The match will take place at 3pm on July 31st.
All that remains now is for West Ham to announce a home pre-season friendly on the weekend of August 7th.
And it’s coming close to home for West Ham fans – quite literally.
