You won’t believe the fee West Ham have just been quoted to sign Samu Omorodion

Atletico Madrid striker Samu Omorodion is thought to be a West Ham United transfer target this summer.

The 20-year-old centre-forward was linked with a move to West Ham earlier this month, and the Hammers were said to have made a £33 million bid for him.

Standing at 6ft 4in tall, Omorodion is an absolute unit, and he has the ideal type of profile to lead the line for West Ham.

Julen Lopetegui usually plays with one central striker who acts as the focal point for his side’s attacking play.

Another Hammers transfer target Youssef En-Nesyri did exactly that for the 57-year-old during his time in charge of Sevilla.

Michail Antonio has been brilliant at doing that for the Hammers over the past few years, but the 34-year-old is definitely well past his best now.

Signing a long-term replacement for the Jamaica international before the start of the new season should be Lopetegui’s main priority in my opinion.

Omorodion is someone who could definitely fulfil that role, but will he be an attainable target for the Hammers this summer?

Incredible fee West Ham have been quoted for Samu Omorodion

We all know that transfer fees have gone up exponentially over the past decade or so – especially for young centre-forwards.

It says it all that the Hammers just shelled out £25 million to sign Luis Guilherme – an 18-year-old winger who’s totally unproven in the Premier League.

Prices have continued to go through the roof, with English clubs spending far more money than any other European teams, in a direct correlation with how popular the Premier League has become.

However, the latest report sharing how much West Ham will have to pay for one of our targets really does take the biscuit.

According to a report from El Desmarque, Atletico Madrid are demanding more than £34 million for Omorodion.

That’s just ridiculous money isn’t it. Let’s get real here – the Spain under-21 international has scored just 27 goals in 72 senior appearances.

Not bad by any means, but he’s hardly set the world alight either has he. In addition to that, the 20-year-old has absolutely no experience of playing in the Premier League either.

Samu Omorodion is a fantastic talent, and I would actually love West Ham to sign him, but not for £34 million plus.

£20-25 million would be a fair price to pay for the youngster in my opinion, but I just can’t see the Hammers signing him this summer.
