World football’s governing body FIFA have made a surprise announcement about a West Ham star and dropped a hint over a prestigious award after his heroics.
The future is bright for West Ham it would seem after the club’s academy stars beat Arsenal 5-1 to lift the FA Youth Cup this week.
The Hammers’ Under 18s side recently won their league at a canter. And they smashed Arsenal to lift the prestigious cup for the first time since 1999.
A 7,000-strong Claret and Blue Army saw Kevin Keen’s young talents batter Jack Wilshere’s Gunners in a memorable final.

And captain Gideon Kodua scored the goal of the night, lobbing the Arsenal goalkeeper from nearly 40 yards out.
The resounding win made it 101 goals for the young Hammers in just 30 matches during a historic campaign.
None can hold a candle to the brilliant strike from highly-rated West Ham starlet Kodua, though.
The goal caught national attention as it was reported on by the likes of The Daily Mail.
Well now it has received international attention too – from the highest possible echelons of world football.

The official account of world football’s governing body FIFA – which has over 16 million followers – posted a picture of West Ham starlet Kodua celebrating his magical goal.
And FIFA have stated West Ham star Kodua’s goal is now a contender to win the prestigious annual Puskas Award.
The prize is named in honour of the football great Ferenc Puskas. The award is handed to the player who scores what is deemed the best goal across the planet that year.
“We’ve seen plenty of contenders for the 2023 Puskás Award lately,” FIFA posted alongside a picture of West Ham youngster Kodua celebrating and an eyes emoji.
“This from West Ham’s Gideon Kodua in the FA Youth Cup Final (mindblowing emoji).”
Hammers starlet could join astonishing list of names on roll of honour
Polish amputee football star Marcin Oleksy beat former West Ham hero Dimitri Payet to the 2022 FIFA Puskas Award with an astonishing scissor-kick goal.
The accolade recognises the year’s most spectacular strike across men’s and women’s football.
Should West Ham’s Kodua scoop the 2023 honour, he will join a star-studded Puskas Award roll of honour. And it contains the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
