Wolves really got one over West Ham in the summer with eight-figure transfer fee

West Ham United were had over by Wolves in the summer transfer window just gone in my opinion.

The Hammers actually enjoyed a very strong transfer window, whilst Wolves probably ended the summer weaker than when they started.

That said, they did get the better of West Ham with one deal in particular.

Julen Lopetegui brought in nine new signings to the London Stadium, whilst 12 left the club for nominal fees, on loan deals or were simply released.

And it has been claimed that Lopetegui is still in the market to bring in at least one more signing on a free transfer.

The Hammers fans are expecting big things of the team this season, with Lopetegui having overseen such a big squad overhaul.

However, the same can’t be said of Wolves. Their fans are slightly more pessimistic about what lies ahead.

West Ham were one of the clubs to sign a player from Wolves in the summer, in the form of Max Kilman.

The 27-year-old has been very good for us so far, and the majority of Hammers fans are delighted with the signing of the 6ft 4in centre-back.

However, Wolves did manage to outdo us in one aspect this summer just gone…

Wolves got one over West Ham by signing Andre Trindade

West Ham chased Andre Trindade for a long, long time before he moved to Molineux, and missing out on him to Wolves is a big blow as far as I’m concerned.

The 23-year-old joined Wolves from Fluminense just before the summer window slammed shut, for a fee believed to be worth £21 million (BBC).

That now looks like outstanding value. The Brazilian is absolutely perfectly suited to Premier League football, and he would have been the ideal player to accompany Edson Alvarez in the middle of the pitch.

He is an incredibly robust player, with 150 games for club and country to his name since the start of 2022 (Transfermarkt).

Andre’s tenacious tackling and aggressive approach to the game makes him ideally suited to the robust nature of Premier League football.

The six-capped Brazil international would be the ideal long-term replacement for Guido Rodriguez in two or three year’s time.

£21 million for the 23-year-old is an absolute steal for Wolves, and they’ve secured themselves a truly fantastic deal by signing him.

Andre Trindade exceptional for Brazil

The former Fluminense man was sensational for Brazil against Ecuador the other night – arguably the best player on the pitch.

The Wolves midfielder kept things ticking in the middle of the pitch for his country, and didn’t allow the Ecuador players any time on the ball.

During Brazil’s 1-0 win over Ecuador, his pace, power, athleticism and dynamism really was a sight to behold.

Andre possesses the skillset that we could have really done with at the London Stadium, and it goes without saying that he’d have made our squad even stronger than it already is.

The former Fluminense midfielder is a player who is quite clearly destined for the very top, and it’s a real shame he didn’t move to the London Stadium in the summer.

So whilst West Ham got one over Wolves by signing the excellent Max Kilman, the Black Country outfit got their own back by winning the race for Brazil star Andre Trindade.

Swings and roundabouts eh!
