What pathetic Cristian Romero did against West Ham United was embarrassing and totally backfired on Spurs.

West Ham beat their bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur once again – this time 1-0 thanks to a goal from Michail Antonio.

West Ham’s in-form number nine Antonio pounced to fire home from an Aaron Cresswell corner as David Moyes’s side moved up to fourth place in the table.

There is no love lost between West Ham and Tottenham.

And that came to the surface in one second half flashpoint which totally backfired on Tottenham.

It was a fairly stale match as far as clashes between West Ham and Tottenham go.

But Spurs’s Argentine defender Romero did something pathetic which only ended up motivating the Hammers to get the win.

Having chopped down Pablo Fornals by the touchline in the second half Romero stood over him and leant down to fire a tirade of abuse at the Spaniard – accusing him of diving and playacting.

Romero had been absolutely bullied all afternoon by West Ham’s self-styled beast Michail Antonio.

The Hammers striker had already embarrassed Romero on several occasions by sending him flying during 50-50 challenges. On one such occasion the £50m centre back flew off the pitch.

Romero was terrified of Antonio but really didn’t fancy the fight against the Jamaican. So instead he decided to pick on little Fornals instead.

Spurs fans were loving Romero’s faux hard man actions with influential Tottenham fan site Spurs Web describing it as ‘poetry in motion’.

It caused a brief melee and only served to fire West Ham up.

Not long after Fornals sprinted across the pitch charged down Spain teammate Sergio Reguilon, won the ball and forced a save from Hugo Lloris.

And from the resulting corner West Ham got their goal.

West Ham fans were quick to thank Romero after the game for providing the catalyst for another win over Spurs.

The defender got what he deserved for his embarrassing actions.

Next time pick on someone your own size you big wimp.
