The 2024/25 season has been one to forget for West Ham United, and indeed Lucas Paqueta.
Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta was just starting to rediscover some of his best form for West Ham, before he suffered an ankle injury during training earlier this week.
Graham Potter has a seriously difficult job on his hands at the London Stadium.
And the injury sustained by Paqueta certainly hasn’t made his job any easier.

The 27-year-old has really struggled over the past 18 months, with the investigation and subsequent trial into his potential breaches of betting rules rumbling on in the background.
There are said to be fears amongst the Hammers hierarchy that Paqueta could be handed a lifetime ban if found guilty of the charges he faces.

It has actually been claimed that he could be sold to Flamengo for just £20 million.
Despite his inconsistent form this season, Paqueta is a brilliant player on his day. Potter is clearly a very big fan of the former Lyon man.
So the fact that the Hammers head coach will have to make do without the 27-year-old for three-four weeks will really hurt him.
West Ham season descends into farce after Lucas Paqueta news
The Hammers have experienced a quite frankly awful 2024/25 campaign.
We have been knocked out of the domestic cups, and are currently sitting in Premier League no-man’s land.
A run of wins might well make the season interesting for the fans, but Lucas Paqueta set to miss around one month through injury certainly hasn’t helped matters.
Vladimir Coufal has been ruled out with a hamstring strain as well, joining Paqueta, Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug and Crysencio Summerville on the sidelines.
Potter certainly hasn’t had an easy ride of it since taking over at the London Stadium.
Lucas Paqueta’s ankle injury is the latest in a long line of blows for the West Ham head coach, in a really short space of time.
Hopefully the Hammers are able to get him back playing for us sooner than expected, because we really need him right now.
Real truth about cause of Lucas Paqueta’s ankle injury
The Hammers play-maker was said to be devastated as he left Rush Green after he injured his ankle during training.

It sums up our season so far quite perfectly that the Brazilian was just finding some of his best form again, before the ankle injury occurred.
The most frustrating thing is that Paqueta was clearly enjoying his football again after Potter replaced Lopetegui at the London Stadium.
Now he’ll have to wait for close to a few weeks before he gets the chance to pull on a Hammers shirt again.
New information has just come to light regarding Paqueta’s ankle injury.
Potter spoke to reporters and suggested that an innocuous challenge with Aaron Wan-Bissaka was the cause of the problem, as quoted by Roshane Thomas:
“It was an innocuous training collision with Aaron Wan-Bissaka. His ankle is swollen, he’ll miss Saturday’s game (against Arsenal) and probably against Leicester City as well.“
That’s so typical of the Hammers’ bad luck right now.
The fact that Aaron Wan-Bissaka caused Lucas Paqueta’s injury with an innocuous challenge sums up West Ham’s luck as a club right now.
Hopefully the tide will soon turn for Graham Potter and his players.
