‘A fear shared internally’ – West Ham owners are worried about potentially fatal incoming blow

Senior figures at West Ham United are extremely concerned right now it seems.

The West Ham owners have numerous problems to deal with at the moment.

West Ham have made a terrible start to the 2024/25 Premier League season, and the appointment of Julen Lopetegui now looks like the completely wrong one.

Hammers co-owner David Sullivan is said to be disillusioned by Lopetegui’s methods, and the Spaniard is surely a dead man walking right now.

However, Sullivan and his fellow board members have other issues to deal with as well.

And one of them in particular is causing huge concern behind the scenes at the London Stadium.

West Ham hierarchy concerned by Lucas Paqueta situation

Lucas Paqueta is currently in all sorts of trouble.

It emerged back in August 2023 that Paqueta was under investigation for potential betting breaches.

Then just a few months ago it was revealed that he was now facing charges for those alleged offences.

The charges being levelled at him are extremely serious ones, and he apparently faces a lifetime ban if found guilty.

According to a report from the Athletic, the West Ham hierarchy are very concerned about the possibility of Paqueta receiving a life-time ban, if he’s found guilty of the charges levelled against him.

Hopefully the worst case scenario doesn’t materialise, but if it does, it would be disastrous for the Hammers.

We would have a player on our books who we won’t be able to sell, nor will we be able to play him.

It would be a financial disaster in every way for the Hammers.

Lucas Paqueta has been in terrible form for West Ham this season, and the ongoing investigation into his supposed wrongdoings is clearly weighing heavily on his mind.

Hopefully the Brazilian gets some closure sooner rather than later, and he is able to return to his very best for the Hammers.
