Two Senegalese media outlets have criticised West Ham left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf after his latest performance.
Diouf started for Senegal in their 3-2 defeat to Erling Haaland’s Norway in their second match at the 2026 World Cup.
The Lions of Teranga now have zero points from two games (vs France and Norway) and a -3 goal difference.
Following a difficult start to the tournament, the Senegalese press have not held back on the players, including Malick Diouf.

Agree or disagree — Craig Bellamy would be a MUCH better manager for West Ham than Nuno? 🤔
Two very different managers… ⚒️
Senegalese media deliver brutal verdict on Malick Diouf’s display vs Norway
Many would argue that Senegal actually have a better all-round team than Norway, who rely on Haaland and Martin Odegaard.
The Senegalese front three of Sadio Mane, Nicolas Jackson and Ismaila Sarr all either scored or assisted against Norway.
However, Senegal’s backline, led by former Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly, were torn apart by Haaland and Co.
Even Alexander Sorloth, usually a classic No. 9, got the better of Malick Diouf on Norway’s right wing.
Not only did Diouf struggle to deal with the Atletico Madrid forward, but he also failed to contribute in attacking areas.

WIW Sport posted a brutal review of Senegal’s 3-2 defeat, including a 3/10 rating for the West Ham defender.
“Despite being well-positioned for most of the game against the French wingers in the first match, the Lions’ left-back struggled to contain Sorloth tonight.
“The Atletico Madrid striker frequently managed to get past him to find a teammate, as seen in the 14th minute or his missed interception against Sorloth (20th minute). He offered little going forward.”
Meanwhile, DSport was only slightly more generous about Diouf’s performance, giving him a score of 5.5/10.
“Serious and focused, he delivered a decent performance against Sorloth. Unfortunately, his crosses weren’t as accurate as usual.”
Senegal now need to beat Iraq convincingly in their final group match to qualify for the knockout rounds.
