West Ham United have issued a 54-word response to a new Lucas Paqueta investigation claim via two board confidants.
West Ham star Lucas Paqueta remains under FIFA and FA investigation over alleged illegal betting involving yellow cards.
But not for much longer according to a report published yesterday.
Football Insider claimed the investigation into the allegations against the West Ham talisman – which Paqueta has vehemently denied from the start – is close to reaching a conclusion.
The report stated West Ham are “braced for the outcome”.
It comes after a journalist claimed last month that he had been told Paqueta will soon be found ‘not guilty’ of the accusations.

On the surface that would be great news for the Hammers and, of course, the player.
But it would also clear the path for an anticipated move to Manchester City, which only collapsed in the summer as a result of the case being opened against the West Ham playmaker.
Well now the club has unofficially responded on the situation.

Sean Whetstone and Hughie Southon count the likes of majority owner David Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady among their contacts inside West Ham.
And each have issued responses to the Football Insider claims overnight.
Board confidants relay the word from inside the club
Southon, of Claret and Hugh, says his “prime source” at the club has no knowledge of any imminent announcement.
“The Football Association has not been in touch since the probe opened in the summer transfer window last year,” the source told Southon.
“It has been the same in every other betting irregularities case they have investigated. They announce publicly – never leak.”
Whetstone then took to social media with his own update from a club insider on the Paqueta investigation claims.
“The decision will be to charge him or not,” the insider told Whetstone.
“Who knows when the FA will decide?”
A similar investigation into Granit Xhaka lasted for nearly 18 months.
