West Ham United could be set to make a really big statement signing in the January transfer window.

Graham Potter is well aware that he needs to bring some top-class reinforcements to West Ham before the January window slams shut.

The Hammers are pushing hard for new signings now, with Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka believed to be one of Potter’s main targets.

However, the Hammers head coach is casting his net far and wide in the hunt to bring some new players to the London Stadium.

West Ham don’t just need a new central midfield powerhouse, but a top-class forward as well.

Our attacking ranks are currently decimated to say the least, with Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug both out with long-term injuries and Jarrod Bowen having only just returned to training.

It’s time for Potter to make a big splash in the market and that, my friends, is seemingly exactly what he’s trying to do.

West Ham want Italy international in January window statement

The Hammers are in for some really exciting signings during the final week of the window.

Potter needs to bolster his forward ranks, and his central midfield department as well.

The latest player being linked with the Hammers could be a real game-changer for us.

According to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio, West Ham want to sign Napoli forward Giacomo Raspadori.

The Hammers allegedly made a bid to sign the 24-year-old Italian when he was at Sassuolo back in the summer of 2022.

However, he ended up joining Napoli instead.

And now it seems like West Ham are back in for Raspadori.

Whilst Napoli are apparently not keen to sell the 24-year-old this month, the Hammers should be going all out to make it happen.

Perhaps Italy international Emerson Palmieri could act as a go-between in convincing the Napoli star to move to the London Stadium.

Secret weapon Emerson could help West Ham snare Raspadori

The 30-year-old joined the Hammers from Chelsea in the summer of 2022.

And he has proven to be an excellent addition for us, especially over the past 18 months.

The former Chelsea left-back has often talked about how much he loves being at the London Stadium (The Athletic).

He knows Raspadori very well from their time together with the Italian national team squad.

I’m sure he could help convince Raspadori to join us…and what a signing he would be.

The Italian can play out wide on the left, in the number 10 role or even through the middle as an auxiliary striker.

He has just one Serie A goal for Napoli to his name this season but it’s important to note that he has only been given 287 minutes of action by Antonio Conte (Transfermarkt).

Raspadori is technically brilliant, possesses real pace, energy and stamina, and would add some real impetus to our attacking play.

Let’s hope that Emerson can help West Ham seal a deal to sign the Napoli star in the January transfer window.
