West Ham are the calm in the eye of the storm after a shock new twist to the relegation battle among rival duo Leeds and Saints.
Mark Noble once uttered the now infamous words “we’re not run like a circus anymore” when West Ham left Upton Park for the London Stadium.
Those comments have often been used as a rod with which to beat Noble whenever West Ham find themselves making headlines for the wrong reasons.
There has been plenty of that this season with the Hammers in the thick of the relegation battle as a result of a dismal Premier League campaign.

That piled pressure on David Moyes to keep his job but the owners have stood firmly behind the Scot despite calls for him to be sacked.
West Ham were conservative in the January window, only spending £15m on Danny Ings after their £170m summer splurge.
Meanwhile their direct relegation rivals spent over £350m on a whopping 30 new signings last month.
The Hammers are the only team in the bottom six not to have changed manager this season as desperation kicks in.

It seems West Ham are the calm in the eye of the storm after a shock new twist to the relegation battle among rival duo Leeds and Saints.
A week ago we reported on Hammers News that Leeds United had sacked Jesse Marsch and that Southampton were preparing to relieve Nathan Jones of his duties too.
Well that proved to be the case after Southampton’s 2-1 home defeat to 10-man Wolves at the weekend.
While everyone at West Ham appears to be remaining calm despite the very real spectre of a disastrous relegation, there has been another big development with news that Saints are set to replace Jones with none other than axed Leeds boss Marsch (The Athletic).

Many were surprised by Leeds’ decision to sack Marsch after backing him with £50m worth of young signings in January.
The American appeared to be slowly but surely building a young, dynamic team who were certainly putting in the hard yards for their manager.
Now Southampton are looking to prove Leeds were wrong to sack Marsch by giving him a rapid shot at redemption in the Premier League.
West Ham currently sit five points ahead of Saints and just one ahead of Leeds as the relegation battle starts to look increasingly like three from six.
Many feel Everton will get the wins needed under Sean Dyche to survive. But the Toffees were awful in a 2-0 loss at Anfield on Monday night.
The reportedly imminent appointment of Marsch adds yet further intrigue to a relegation battle Moyes and the Hammers simply cannot afford to lose.
For so long the Premier League’s circus act, who would have thought West Ham would the champions of calm?
