West Ham United fans have mixed feelings about the club’s chances of staying in the Premier League this season.

Such has been the topsy-turvy nature of this season’s Premier League campaign, Hammers News have consistently asked our readers and subscribers how they’re feeling about the ongoing relegation battle.

The response has broadly been positive but the fact is that there are ten games left this season and West Ham United remain in the bottom three, two points from safety.

Still, even after a heavy defeat to Liverpool, West Ham fans are feeling confident.

Indeed, we asked readers and subscribers across our TalkingPoints and Facebook platforms to rate how confident they were about staying up on a scale between 1 and 10.

As ever, a genuine confidence emerged from supporters here in east London and beyond.

One supporter wrote: “10.”

Another added: “I’m positive if we win on Wednesday [vs Fulham]. That’s for sure biggest game of the year for us. So at minute, it’s a seven.”

“10, we can do this,” wrote another supporter.

One fan commented: “10 – we have to believe until it is mathematically impossible. Let’s start on Wednesday [vs Fulham].”

That’s not to say it was a unanimous response, however.

Other people who responded to our Facebook page were not quite as confident.

One supporter wrote: “1, I just can’t see us escaping the drop.”

Another said: “5. We have found some form and should pick up some points, but it depends on how Forest and Spurs react now. I’d like to think we’re moving upwards while Spurs are spiralling downwards. It could go either way.”

One comment read: “5. Out of us, Tottenham and [Nottingham] Forest, we probably have the hardest run-in of games. We have to get 3 points at Fulham, which won’t be easy, but the biggest game is Spurs vs Forest. if there’s a winner in that game, it will probably define who we are fighting it out against.”

A supporter also said: “4. Odds against us but away to Fulham is CRUCIAL, VITAL our single most important game since the Conference League final. With Forest away at [Manchester] City and almost certain to come away with 0 points, a win away to Fulham will see us leapfrog Forest taking us out of the bottom three.”

What Nuno Espirito Santo has said about the relegation battle

West Ham have some difficult games to come as they look to drag themselves out of the bottom three.

Indeed, it all starts with West Ham’s trip to Fulham on Wednesday evening, which, while more favourable than Nottingham Forest’s game (away at Manchester City), will still be difficult.

Still, Nuno has stressed that his side are indeed up for the fight.

That might sound like the least one can expect but that kind of resilience was profoundly lacking for almost all of the first half of the season.

Speaking ahead of Fulham, Nuno said: “With the fight we are involved in and the things we have to address and solve and improve and make it happen, every day is about the games and how we prepare ourselves for the matches.”
