Star West Ham United duo Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal and reported David Moyes target Alex Kral got battered last night.
West Ham’s hero Czech duo and potential new arrival were not taking part in a pre-Euros team bonding bender, though.
They were outclassed by Italy in a 4-0 drubbing that could prove to be a disastrous warm-up friendly in terms of Czech confidence.
Coufal, Soucek and Kral get battered as Czechs suffer pre tournament humbling against Italy
Coufal is in the running – alongside Soucek – to be West Ham’s player of the year.
But the pair will want to forget their latest game for their country as quickly as possible.
And the other West Ham star in the running for Hammer of the Year, Declan Rice, might now be licking his lips about the prospect of facing the Czechs when the tournament gets underway.
Jesse Lingard too if – as is anticipated by many – he is named as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement in the England squad.
Coufi and Kral two of only five players to play 90 minutes as Soucek gets a half in game that will have Rice and Lingard licking their lips
Coufal and Kral were two of five players who played the entire 90 minutes for the Czechs against an impressive Italian outfit who scored a goal every 20 minutes in a comfortable victory.
Soucek came on for the second half but it changed little as Italy – whose manager Roberto Mancini was criticised by snubbed West Ham star Angelo Ogbonna last week – went through the gears.
The Hammers duo have a chance to repair morale when they face Albania in a final warm-up game on Tuesday night.
Mouthwatering potential clash of Rice and Lingard vs Kral and Soucek could be on the cards for West Ham fans
Meanwhile West Ham stars Rice and Lingard will be involved as England take on Romania tomorrow.
That’s before the big tournament gets underway next Sunday with a tough looking game against Croatia.
Soucek, Coufal and Kral will come head to head with Rice – and potentially Lingard – when England meet the Czechs in the last group game on June 22nd.
Speculation has been rife that Moyes wants to sign Kral.
So West Ham fans will be interested spectators when he and Soucek come head to head with Rice in three weeks’ time.
