There may be relief for David Moyes and West Ham over fears key player Fornals had picked up an injury on international duty with Spain.

Fornals has been a revelation for West Ham, particularly during the Moyes revolution in east London.

The midfield ace is adored by West Ham fans and his manager for his infectious attitude, workrate and of course his ability.

Fornals has been so good for West Ham he earned a recall to the Spain setup under Luis Enrique.

That result meant Enrique’s side – top of World Cup qualifying Group B – needed just a point against second-placed Sweden on Sunday night to secure a place at Qatar 2022.

A late winner from Alvaro Morata sealed Spain’s place in Qatar.

But there was anger and confusion as Fornals was nowhere to be seen in the Spain squad for the game.

Many Spain fans took to social media in anger after Fornals was mysteriously omitted from the squad, with some labelling Enrique a ‘fool’.

West Ham supporters meanwhile were more worried Fornals had been injured – especially after losing Angelo Ogbonna – possibly for the season – to an ACL injury picked up in the win over Liverpool.

Fornals scored and assisted in West Ham’s memorable win as they leapfrogged Liverpool into third place in the Premier League heading into the international break.

His form made his omission from the Spain squad for the Sweden game all the more puzzling for West Ham fans, hence the fears he had been injured.

But there looks to be relief that Fornals has not suffered any major injury after he was pictured celebrating with the Spain squad after the game.

If the midfield ace had a serious knock he would almost certainly have been sent home for treatment and to be assessed by West Ham’s medical team.

So these pictures will come as a big relief to Moyes and the Hammers faithful ahead of the trip to Wolves this weekend.

A win at Molineux could see West Ham go level on points with leaders Chelsea who face Leicester away in the lunchtime kick-off.
