West Ham fans love nothing more than seeing one of their own on the pitch but now they’ve got one in an important position behind the scenes.

West Ham have responded to losing a top executive to rivals Spurs by snatching a replacement from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Match-going Hammers fans will be aware that Jake Heath was the head of Supporter Services.

But we reported on the fact he had left the Irons for Tottenham – the club he actually supports.

It was claimed in that report that his mystery replacement would be joining from another London rival and was a Hammers supporter.

Hammers land top Chelsea executive

Well now it seems that club was rivals Chelsea.

There is no love lost between West Ham and Chelsea.

So Hammers fans will relish the fact their club has been able to lure someone away from Todd Boehly’s Blues setup.

Cat Smith – she’s one of our own

Hammers board confidant Sean Whetstone has confirmed that West Ham fan Cat Smith will be the new head of supporter services when she has worked her notice at Chelsea.

Smith, pictured in the post below, was previously involved with the City Group and Jockey Club having started out her career at Leeds, where she attended university.

“West Ham supporter Cat Smith will be the new head of supporter services after the departure of Jake Heath to Spurs last month,” Whetstone said.

“Smith is currently the head of supporter engagement at Chelsea but will swap London clubs after serving her notice in West London.

“Before Chelsea, Smith was a senior communication manager at the City Group having a marketing role at the Jockey Club before that. Her career in football started with Leeds as a part time hospitality manager in the directors box while at University in Leeds.”

Brady gives Boehly the Claret and Blues

If you’re going to have a reason for jumping ship from Chelsea to West Ham then being a lifelong Hammer is among the best!

As a result one would like to think that Smith will be very much in tune with West Ham fans.

Smith will be working under the ‘first lady of football’ in the shape of West Ham vice-chair Karren Brady.

We wish Smith all the best when she does start in her new role with the Hammers.

Forget the Blues, welcome to the Claret and Blues.
