West Ham must copy Brighton blueprint or risk losing ‘unbelievable’ player

West Ham risk losing one of our best young players unless we take the lead from Brighton and copy something specific that Roberto De Zerbi has done.

West Ham manager David Moyes has a very strong squad of players at his disposal at the London Stadium.

However, one particular area of weakness is his centre-forward department, with Hammers duo Michail Antonio well past his best and Danny Ings painfully ill-suited to the Scot’s system.

Divin Mubama, 18, is next in line behind those two, but he’s just not being given enough chances in my opinion. How will Moyes ever know if he’s good enough, if he doesn’t give him a run of starts?

The teenager must be better than Ings as well – he’s far more suited to the way in which we set up as a team.

Look at What Brighton manager De Zerbi did with Evan Ferguson, and now he and the Seagulls are reaping the rewards.

The Hammers need to follow suit in my opinion…

In my opinion, Moyes needs to start playing Mubama now. If he’s not ready we’ll find out soon enough. However, I think he might just surprise a few people, and most importantly, Moyes.

Mubama is just six days younger than Ferguson. The Hammers youngster is set to turn 19 tomorrow. So if Brighton can give the young Irishman a proper run in the team, then why can’t we?

Described as an ‘unbelievable talent’, Mubama has been on fire over the past couple of years with the under-21s and under-18s.

He has 54 goals in 86 games for the youth teams since 2021 (Transfermarkt).

The talented teen has power and pace in abundance, and is an exceptionally accomplished finisher. He’s far better in front of goal than Antonio is, that’s for sure.

West Ham may risk losing him unless we start giving him chances though, just like Brighton have done with Ferguson.

The towering 19-year-old has bagged 14 goals and four assists in 39 games for Brighton (Transfermarkt), and he looks like the real deal. Hopefully West Ham copy the Seagulls’ blueprint for success when it comes to their handling of teenage strikers!
