West Ham may have conducted terrible deal as 24-year-old’s value ‘goes through the roof’

Nikola Vlasic has been a huge hit at Torino since joining on a season-long loan from West Ham United last month.

And as a result, the Croatian’s value is ‘going through the roof’, according to a report from Italian publication TuttoMercatoWeb.

Torino have an option to sign the 24-year-old for just €15 million (£13 million) next summer, according to a report from Calciomercato.

That is an option that the Serie A outfit will almost certainly take up according to the Italian media.

David Moyes never got the best out of Vlasic, mainly due to his reluctance to play him in his correct position just in behind the striker.

The Croatia international undoubtedly wasn’t cut out for the Premier League though. So moving him on was the correct decision in my view. It could be argued that West Ham have let him go too cheaply though…

Nikola Vlasic shining for Torino

Signing Vlasic for just £13 million next summer will surely be a no-brainer for Torino, considering how good he’s been for them.

Vlasic has begun life in Italy in fine style with three goals in six games (Transfermarkt).

The Croatian seems to be right at home in Turin, so a return to the London Stadium is highly unlikely next summer.

We haven’t got a problem with that. What is annoying, however, is that we believe the Hammers could have got a lot more than £13 million for Vlasic.

If he continues to pull up trees in Italy this season, surely a fee closer to £20 million or so would have been attainable.

Having said all of that, perhaps just moving him on even for a mere £13 million isn’t that bad.

Vlasic just didn’t fit at West Ham. It’s a shame because he is clearly a very talented footballer.

Perhaps David Moyes didn’t perform his usual due diligence on Nikola Vlasic before signing him for West Ham 13 months ago.

At least West Ham didn’t ending up losing him for a pittance like we did when Felipe Anderson was sold back to Lazio!
