Callum Marshall scores important goal for Bochum

Marshall took less than 10 minutes to score an equalising goal to make it 2-2 at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion.

He made a darting diagonal run from the left wing to the right side of the penalty area and was played in by Koji Miyoshi.

Marshall then produced a superb finish across the goal into the bottom left corner to give Bochum hope of completing a comeback.

The home side used that momentum to score a winning goal just minutes later, easing their relegation worries.

Bochum were only four points above the bottom three before this weekend, having gone four games without a win.

The victory over Kaiserslautern has now increased their advantage to seven points, with 9 matches remaining in the season.

How does Callum Marshall feel about Bochum future?

Callum Marshall will have one season left on his contract when he returns to West Ham this summer.

This will inevitably raise questions about whether the 21-year-old’s future lies away from East London.

Marshall has even discussed the possibility of staying with Bochum, given that he is enjoying his time in Germany.

“You never know what’s going to happen,” he said previously. “When I was 17 [at Linfield], I thought I’d play in Ireland for the rest of my career.

“Two months later, I was at West Ham United. Everything can change so quickly. I get along well with my teammates. We’ll see what happens next.”
