In other news…Report: West Ham must pay £20m if they want to sign 27-cap England international in January
The 32-year-old German was omitted from the Gunners’ 25 man Premier League squad a couple of days ago.
And it seems as though he might have played his last game for Arsenal.
Ozil joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in the summer of 2013 for around £42.4 million (BBC).
The German World Cup winner has gone on to rack up 44 goals and 77 assists in 254 games for the north London outfit (Transfermarkt).
But it seems as though he faces a bleak future at the Emirates with Mikel Arteta at the helm.
And Hammers legend Carlton Cole responded when asked on talkSPORT whether he would like Ozil at West Ham:
“Of course, of course. West Ham have always liked those kind of players, those magician-like players. Arsenal would have benefitted from having him in their squad, but he clearly doesn’t fit in at the moment.”
West Ham clearly won’t be signing Ozil, however. The 32-year-old earns £350,000 per week (Spotrac) for a start.
The 92-capped Germany international doesn’t fit into David Moyes’s preferred playing style and system at the London Stadium either.
Ozil was a great player in his day for Arsenal. But his time is coming to an end at the very highest level.
And it really would be a shock if West Ham tried to sign the Gunners play-maker anytime soon.
