West Ham hero Declan Rice releases emotional statement after England heartache

West Ham United hero Declan Rice has this evening released an emotional statement following England’s Euro 2020 final heartache.

The world got to see what West Ham fans have known for years as Rice shone for England on their march to the final against Italy.

And he saved his best game of the tournament for the big stage as West Ham’s talisman was arguably man of the match before his bizarre substitution on 75 minutes.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

Rice showed the world what West Ham fans have seen for years

It backfired completely as Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson looked totally off the pace and was double subbed in extra-time.

Italy took complete control with the West Ham hero kicking his heels on the bench for the rest of the game.

And Southgate’s folly was exposed further as Rice, who has been assigned penalty duties at West Ham in Mark Noble’s absence, had pledged to take a penalty should it come to it only for England to miss three on their way to another shootout defeat.

Rice did West Ham and England proud, though.

Hammers speaks out in emotional statement after England heartbreak

And now the Hammer of the Year favourite has spoken for the first time since Sunday night’s heartbreak.

“It’s difficult to put into words how I’m feeling this evening,” Rice said in a statement on Twitter.

“I’m of course absolutely devastated with the result last night and need some time now to process the massive disappointment we are all feeling. To get so close is heartbreaking, and I know all of us around the country are hurting.

“However, the biggest emotion I am feeling is pride. I am so proud to be a part of this squad. The last four weeks I’ve had the best time of my entire life and the journey we have all been on together as players, management, staff, fans and as a nation has been special.

“It’s been a true honour to represent our country at a major tournament and together we’ve all created memories that will last a lifetime.

‘I know there are great days ahead’

“We win together and lose together, and although it’s painful today this is just the start for this squad and we will be back better, stronger and ready to go again.

“Thank you so much to everyone around the country for the incredible support for all of us during the whole tournament. Seeing everyone come together as we have over the last month has been amazing and I know there are great days ahead.

“We are all hungry for success and the future is bright for this group!!!”

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are said to be in pole position to sign the striker club insider has always maintained was Moyes’s number one target.

And it’s coming closer to home for West Ham fans – quite literally.
