Aaron Cresswell being handed a new contract by West Ham was nothing more than a poorly thought out sentimental one.
The deal that he signed back in 2019 was due to expire in the summer of 2023, but the Hammers recently extended that by another year. The 33-year-old could be offered a further extension as well, according to Six Foot Two.
However, the harsh reality is that Cresswell, who earns £53k-a-week at the London Stadium (Salary Sport), is nowhere near good enough to be playing Premier League football.
The left-back is well past his prime and has now become a liability to the team. In fact, he has been for a couple of seasons now.

The owner that David Moyes realises this the better…
West Ham handing awful Aaron Cresswell new contract was incredibly negligent
Cresswell should not have been handed a new deal, with a view to releasing him in the summer of 2023.
His performances against Lyon and Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League last season were horrendous, and as harsh as it may sound, he cost us the match in the semi-final.
Last night, the former Ipswich Town defender was absolutely terrible, and his role in Brentford’s second goal was all the evidence we needed that he should be nowhere near a Premier League starting XI anymore.

Cresswell doesn’t have any pace, and is constantly targeted by the opposition because of that.
His lack of mobility and power is truly astounding for a Premier League player.
There is no way that the Aaron Cresswell should have been handed a new deal by West Ham.
It is a decision that will cost us a lot of money off the field and many points on the pitch.
