West Ham United are now being linked with a move to sign a 24-year-old from our Premier League London rivals.

The Premier League winger has been offered to West Ham in the late stages of deadline day.

Julen Lopetegui is actually on the verge of overseeing the best transfer window we have ever witnessed at the London Stadium.

However, a few deals still need to happen in order for that to become a reality.

The West Ham manager is clearly still very active in the market on deadline day.

It has been widely reported that the Hammers’ main focus is to shift on some fringe players before the window slams shut.

The Hammers have seemingly enjoyed some success in that respect, so could we really bring in one or two more before the window closes?

Well we had a chance to sign an attacker, but have apparently turned that down…

According to a report from Alex Crook, Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson has just been offered to West Ham.

However, the Hammers have turned down the offer.

I don’t blame Lopetegui to be honest. In my opinion, we should be doing a lot better than the Arsenal winger.

Maybe Carlos Soler will be our only signing on deadline day after all.

West Ham right to reject Reiss Nelson?

Nelson, 24, is a decent player on his day but I just feel like we should be setting our sights a lot higher than the Gunners forward.

Sure, he possesses impressive pace, but he doesn’t have much guile or creativity inside the final third. Eight goals and nine assists in 89 games for Arsenal tells its own story really doesn’t it.

The 24-year-old has a really concerning injury record as well.

Since the start of the 2019/20 season, Nelson has missed 333 days through injury (Transfermarkt).

The winger has hardly played over the past couple of years, and I just don’t think he’s the man we need to take us to the next level.

Missing out on Reiss Nelson before tonight’s 11pm deadline is not be the worst thing in the world for West Ham.
