Nuno Espirito Santo has been handed a major boost in his bid to win the Championship title after West Ham finally landed his right-hand man amid uncertainty over the future of Paco Jemez.

When Nuno Espirito Santo first joined West Ham, it was on the understanding the club would go after his own backroom team.

The likes of Rui Pedro Silva, Julio Figueroa were expected to join Nuno at West Ham as assistant coaches when he replaced Graham Potter last September.

Rui Barbosa and Antonio Dias were expected to be hired as goalkeeper coach and fitness coach respectively.

In the end, though, only Barbosa arrived with the likes of Mark Robson and Steve Potts promoted from the Academy instead.

Midway through the season, with West Ham cut seven points adrift after defeats to Nuno’s former clubs Wolves and Forest, no-nonsense Spaniard Paco Jemez was drafted in.

On a scale of 1-10, how confident are YOU that Nuno leads us straight back up? 👀

Here's why I think we can learn NOTHING from his time at Wolves 👇

Former Ibiza head coach Jemez quickly became a firm Hammers fan favourite, famously tearing strips off Nuno on the sideline when he brought Max Kilman on as a late sub to see out a game.

West Ham stars, almost to a man, credited Jemez’s arrival with the huge turnaround in form and results in the second half of the season.

The Hammers were the sixth best team in the Premier League between Jemez’s arrival mid-January and the end of the season.

Fans have been desperate to see him return but ahead of pre-season starting on Monday that is still uncertain.

But now West Ham have finally got Nuno his man in a major title bid boost after an update from Jemez.

Wolves, Burnley and possibly Middlesbrough and Southampton are expected to be the clubs competing with the Hammers for the Championship title.

So West Ham have dealt rivals Wolves a monumental blow by luring Nuno’s long-time number Rui Pedro Silva to join him on the staff.

According to Telegraph journalist John Percy, Pedro Silva is leaving Wolves to come to the London Stadium to work with Nuno again after spells with Wolves and Forest.

Just how important is it that Paco Jemez RETURNS to West Ham?

The Spaniard is certainly open to the idea… 🫡

“Knowing how much importance Nuno places on him, this will only improve West Ham’s chances of success in the Championship,” Percy said on X.

The news comes after Jemez admitted he may still return to West Ham.

Last month Jemez revealed he would prefer to be a head coach in his next role after his contract expired at West Ham.

Speaking on Marca radio, Jemez says he ‘wouldn’t mind staying’ at West Ham – but is looking at projects outside of Spain that make him ‘feel alive’ while he waits to hear from Nuno.

“I’ve enjoyed the affection received at West Ham,” Jemez said.

“It’s an honor and a luxury that they recognize your work. I spoke with Nuno and I wouldn’t mind staying, but if things get sorted out…

“While (I wait for) news (to) arrive, I’m looking at projects outside of Spain that make me feel alive.”
