West Ham United owned centre-back Nayef Aguerd is plying his trade out in Spain this season.
Nayef Aguerd endured a turbulent two-year spell with West Ham – one that got off on completely the wrong foot after he suffered a serious ankle injury not long after joining the club.
The Morocco international admitted recently that he was very happy to leave the London Stadium back in the summer.
He just wasn’t up to it in the Premier League.
His skill-set wasn’t suited to the physicality and robustness of the English game.

When he left in the summer, the majority of Hammers fans were more than happy.
However, Aguerd has just made an honest admission that really will raise some eyebrows.
West Ham fans won’t believe admission from Nayef Aguerd
Signed for £27 million from Rennes in the summer of 2022 (The Athletic), Aguerd proved to be a terrible signing for the Hammers.
The 28-year-old Moroccan’s poor concentration levels and amateur positional awareness cost us on numerous occasions during his two seasons at the London Stadium.
He left the club to join Real Sociedad on a season-long loan and surprisingly, he has been exceptional for the La Liga side.
Aguerd spoke to Marca about his season out in Spain so far, and refused to rule out a return to West Ham:

“I’m not going to lie. I came here to find my best level again, first of all, because I wasn’t playing at West Ham and I want to enjoy every moment here, as I am doing,” he said.
“I still have two years left on my contract with West Ham, but now I’m only thinking about helping Real go as far as possible in the three competitions and then there will be time to think about the future.”
“I don’t know if I’ll have to go back, I don’t know if I’ll stay here, I don’t know if I’ll go anywhere else, it’s not in my hands.”
Wow, that’s quite the statement.
I was under the impression that he’ll be leaving us permanently at the end of this current season regardless.
Earlier this season, he was described by the Spanish press as Sociedad’s ‘most outstanding player’.
In 13 La Liga outings so far this season, Aguerd has averaged 1.5 tackles, 3.5 clearances and 2.5 successful aerial duels per match.
He has made 62.6 passes per game on average and has recorded a 88.9% completion rate (Who Scored).
Incredibly, Nayef Aguerd has actually looked very sold out in Spain, but could he really return to West Ham at the end of this season?
Only time will tell. My opinion? I doubt very much that he will ever play for West Ham again.
