West Ham fans torn over who to support in Spurs vs Nottingham Forest relegation clash

West Ham’s Premier League future will become much clearer when the final whistle blows on Sunday afternoon.

Not only do the Hammers face Aston Villa away from home, but Tottenham and Nottingham Forest are playing each other.

The match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is probably even more important to the relegation battle than West Ham’s.

Therefore, Hammers fans have been debating who to support in that fixture, and their answers have been mixed, to say the least.

West Ham fans face Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest dilemma

Hammers News asked supporters what they are hoping for from the game between Tottenham and Nottingham Forest.

“A draw would benefit us the most, especially if we get a result,” one said on TalkingPoints – where you can have your say and engage with fellow fans.

Many others also want to see a draw at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as West Ham would then overtake both teams with a victory at Villa Park.

“A draw… I am hoping for straight reds and injuries. I’ll take the draw, though,” a fan wrote on the Hammers News Facebook page.

“A draw and multiple red cards for both teams,” another echoed the same view.

Meanwhile, others could not set aside their dislike for Tottenham, making their support for Forest abundantly clear.

A Hammers fan posted, “Every time Spurs lose, an angel gets its wings. Gotta be Spurs going down!”

“Nottingham Forest win. How does anyone want Tottenham to pick up? We’re West Ham,” one argued.

“If anyone is going to win, I’d rather Forest, but that would apply to any club in world football.”

However, a small minority of West Ham fans temporarily shelved their biases to make the sensible point that Spurs winning could be beneficial.

Forest are probably the more likely of the two teams to go down, as they are already one point below Tottenham and have tougher fixtures.

“Draw or forest lose because they have the trickier run-in than us. I’m not saying ours is easy, but the biggest two games we have are Villa and Arsenal,” read another comment.

“A Forest loss or a draw with a few red cards and injuries.”
