West Ham United allowed both Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals to leave on transfer deadline day this winter.
Said Benrahma left West Ham to link up with Lyon on loan for the remainder of the season, and they have an option to buy him in the summer, whilst Pablo Fornals completed a permanent move to Real Betis.
Both players leaving has left David Moyes desperately short in the attacking department, but the Scot recently admitted that the real reason that the two players were let go is because they both wanted to leave so badly.
Moyes has received pelters from some sections of the Hammers fanbase for leaving his squad so short when we were in a really strong position.
However, it seems like we’re pointing the finger of blame at the wrong man…

Who was really to blame for Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals exits
It seems like Moyes is being unfairly treated for his role in sanctioning the exits of Benrahma and Fornals.
That’s because the Evening Standard claim that it was in fact Tim Steidten who allowed the Algerian and the Spaniard to leave the London Stadium in the January transfer window.
If this is true, the German had better have some seriously exciting attacking signings lined up for the summer!
I get that both Benny and Pablo had regressed badly over the past year or so, but to let them both leave in the same window without bringing in a new winger was beyond negligent if you ask me.
When deadline day was over, our chances of finishing inside the top six of the Premier League table took a nose-dive.
Big changes are needed at the London Stadium in the summer transfer window. Let’s just hope that the West Ham transfer team have some big names lined up to come in, after Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals were let go in January.
