The 25-year-old joined the Hammers from Villarreal in the summer of 2019 for around £25 million (The Telegraph).

Fornals took a while to settle at the London Stadium and many West Ham fans suggested at the time that he quite simply wasn’t cut out for the rigours of Premier League football.

The Spaniard has proven all of his doubters wrong over the past year or so, however. Since the turn of the year, Fornals has been truly brilliant for West Ham.

It could be argued that he is now one of the first names on the West Ham team-sheet for David Moyes.

The former Villarreal ace has begun this season in fine form, bagging two goals and one assist in three games so far.

Fornals replaced Ferran Torres in the 60th minute last night, and made an immediate impact. He teed up Pablo Sarabia for Spain’s fourth and final goal of the night.

He could have had one more as well when Spain’s fifth goal was harshly ruled out due to being deemed as offside.

West Ham fans rave about Fornals display for Spain

The 25-year-old, who earns £57k-a-week (WT Foot) is a hugely popular figure at the London Stadium.

Fornals is an incredibly gifted player. He has vision and composure when in possession reminiscent of David Silva. Pablo still has a long way to go before he can be truly compared to the Manchester City legend. He certainly has the potential to do just that, however.

The talented Hammers ace has an incredible work ethic as well. He just doesn’t stop running for his team.
