West Ham fans are all in shock after ‘disgraceful’ Lucas Paqueta news

Lucas Paqueta has had to deal with all sorts of problems off the field of play over the past year and a half.

West Ham signed Lucas Paqueta from Lyon back in the summer of 2022, but nobody could have predicted what was about to unfold just 12 months later.

Paqueta was first accused of deliberately picking up yellow cards on four separate occasions back in August 2023.

He was then charged a year later.

The former Lyon man faces the very real possibility of never playing football again, if he is found guilty.

Incredibly it has been claimed that Lucas Paqueta could claim up to £62 million in compensation, if he is indeed banned for life.

Right now though, nobody knows one way or the other whether the West Ham star faces a future in the game or not.

West Ham fans all in shock after ‘disgraceful’ Lucas Paqueta news

Lucas Paqueta’s spot-fixing trial has been put on hold and could now rumble on well into the summer, according to The Daily Mail.

The trial was initially expected to last just three weeks, but that has obviously all changed now.

And the Hammers fans are not happy in the slightest about it.

In fact, they are all convinced that the latest update can only mean one thing.

One West Ham fan vented his frustration at the FA:

Whilst another said, When the prosecution is trying to cut a deal, especially at this stage, they must be in trouble.

Meanwhile, another Hammer suggested that Paqueta should sue the FA, Genuinely could sue the fa if he’s found not guilty just for ruining his whole life at this point.

The messages on social media from the West Ham fans went on and on…

A fourth West Ham fan said, I mean surely the fa don’t have any good evidence if it drags on like this.

A fifth simply said, Guilty or not, the way this case has been handled has been absolutely embarrassing from the FA.

And then a sixth suggested that Paqueta is clearly not guilty, Clearly not guilty if it’s taken the FA this long.

In fairness, those Hammers fans have a real point.

The fact that this has dragged on for around 20 months now tells its own story really doesn’t it.

What will happen if Lucas Paqueta is found guilty

If the worst-case scenario materialises, the Brazilian could be banned for life.

That would obviously be a complete and utter disaster for Paqueta and West Ham.

There is also a scenario whereby Paqueta could receive a shorter ban and a heavy fine.

The best outcome will obviously be for West Ham star Lucas Paqueta to be found not-guilty of all the charges levelled against him.

One way or the other, Paqueta really needs some closure on this matter now, as do West Ham as a club.
