West Ham United manager David Moyes guided his side to a 2-1 Premier League win over Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

David Moyes would have been delighted with his West Ham side’s Premier League win over Tottenham – it put us firmly in the mix for a top seven finish this season.

The Hammers drew to Crystal Palace last weekend and the negativity seeping out of the club was palpable, but Thursday’s win over Spurs changed all of that in an instant.

It really was a great turnaround from West Ham against Tottenham, and Moyes deserves huge credit for his half-time team-talk.

The West Ham fans are now looking forward to tomorrow’s clash with Fulham, and Hammers boss will be walking on thin air today.

That’s because the Premier League win over Tottenham on Thursday ended a truly shocking run for David Moyes.

The 60-year-old Scot finally end a 13-year hoodoo…

David Moyes records first Premier League away win against big six for 13 years

The traditional big six – Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham have always represented really tough tests for the Hammers.

Moyes has never won an away game against Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea during his 24-year-old managerial career.

And before Thursday night, he hadn’t won away from home against any of the so-called ‘big six’ since December 20th, 2010 – a 2-1 win at Manchester City whilst he was in charge of Everton (Transfermarkt).

That has all changed now. The second-half performance against Tottenham will surely give the Scot the belief that taking the game to some of these big teams, with a high tempo and a high press is actually the way forward.

The first-half display was chalk and cheese from the second 45, and we were lucky not to be 3-0 down at half-time in all fairness.

The West Ham manager now has the blueprint for success against the so-called big six, and it will be criminal if he reverts to his old system and style, next time we play one of the big boys.

David Moyes ended a 13-year wait for a Premier League win away from home against one of the big six on Thursday. It was a long time coming, and the Scot must be so relieved that that weight is not hanging around his neck anymore.
