The current summer transfer window is a vitally important one for West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetegui.

The Hammers squad left behind by David Moyes was an ageing and unbalanced one, and Julen Lopetegui now has to address that this summer.

The West Ham chief is believed to be closing in on a hugely exciting summer transfer window deal for the club.

Lopetegui has a transfer budget of around £90 million to play with this summer, excluding player sales, so he definitely doesn’t have an endless pot of cash.

The Spaniard will have to move on the likes of Nayef Aguerd, Danny Ings, Maxwel Cornet and Kurt Zouma, if he wants to adequately bolster his ranks this summer.

If Lopetegui does manage to generate some funds, he’ll be able to sign a hugely exciting Premier League forward this summer.

And a deal to bring the attacker in question to the London Stadium is getting closer by the day apparently…

West Ham now closing in on Jhon Duran summer transfer

Jhon Duran has been a priority transfer target for the Hammers this summer, after it emerged that we lodged a £35 million bid for the 20-year-old.

It has been claimed that the Villa hitman is actually trying to force through a move to the London Stadium this summer.

If Lopetegui is able to sign Duran before the start of the new season, I think it would be a major coup for the Hammers.

However, is the South American arriving in East London this summer still a realistic prospect?

According to a report from The Times, West Ham are inching ever closer to signing the Colombia international.

They claim that Aston Villa are asking for £40 million for Duran – an extortionate fee for a youngster, but it just goes to show how much potential he has.

The young forward is a real talent, and I’m convinced that he’d be the perfect summer signing for us.

He has the ideal profile to lead the line for West Ham next season, what with his height, physicality, high energy levels and willingness to run the channels.

Jhon Duran possesses impressive pace – something that West Ham are desperately in need of, and have been for quite some time now.

Sure, the 20-year-old may not be the finished article, but he has all of the basic ingredients needed to succeed at the very highest level.

If West Ham manage to secure a summer transfer for Jhon Duran, I think we’ll be in a strong position to really kick on this season and beyond.
