Video footage shows West Ham United summer signing Pierre Ekwah sending a reminder of his quality to David Moyes with a stunning volley.
West Ham signed midfielder Ekwah from Chelsea for around £1.5m in the summer.
The Hammers announced the signing of the 19-year-old – who can also play in defence – on a three-year deal, with the option for a further year (whufc.com).
Ekwah initially spent two weeks on trial with West Ham, featuring in the U23s’ final two Premier League 2 Division 1 matches of the 2020/21 season – both against Arsenal – scoring in the latter.
On joining the Hammers, Ekwah revealed that legend and fellow Frenchman Zinedine Zidane was one of his football idols.
“I would say, because I’m French, Zinedine Zidane [was my idol]! He was my guy. [I also like] Kaka, Andrea Pirlo, Claude Makelele,” Ekwah told whufc.com.

Well he emulated one of Zidane’s most famous goals – the Champions League final winner for Juventus over Bayer Leverkusen – when he struck a beautiful volley in the thrilling 4-3 win over Tottenham on Monday night.
West Ham have now posted a video of Ekwah’s goal online and it is a sight to behold.
“An absolute beauty from Pierre Ekwah last night in our U23s’ 4-3 win over Spurs,” West Ham posted alongside the video on Twitter.
Look familiar? Here’s a reminder of Zidane’s famous effort from back in 2002.
Granted Zidane’s was a full-on volley – and on a much bigger stage of course – but the position and the sweet nature of the left-footed volley was similar.
The goal will come as a reminder to West Ham boss Moyes of the young star’s quality.
West Ham need to start planning ahead when it comes to central midfield options for the future.
Alex Kral has been brought in on loan from Spartak Moscow with an option for West Ham to make the deal permanent next summer.
Mark Noble is retiring at the end of the season and speculation continues to rage over Declan Rice’s future.
So Moyes will undoubtedly have more than a passing interest in Ekwah’s development with the Under 23s this season.
The player has clearly got bags of ability judging by his goal.
Moyes simply will not tolerate even a hint of laziness.
So if Ekwah can prove his work ethic while showcasing his talent then the future could be bright for him at West Ham.
